melbourne here we come!

Only one more sleep! Yes we are counting the nights and the days until we hop on the plane and have a little holiday before the summer chaos takes hold with the little pinwheel shop. We are off to Melbourne! I loved it last time on my own with little people. It was easy. Well as easy as it can be. I went with the whole idea that whatever will happen in Melbourne would happen at home. So really you are only dealing with a changed space to come home to each day. The rest is routine and a normal life with children.

Last trip I took Keely and Taj to all of the kiddie activities. This trip is kind of about me. Only slightly as I know my days are full of what they need and their happiness. I am lucky to be staying really close to a beautiful park, the city and one of my awesome friends. I am sure there will not be a moment of down time. Well we will have the sleep during the day, and evening, but it will be all about pounding the pavement, jumping on the trams, hitching a ride in the stroller, on the ergo baby carrier and wheeling around on the scooter. All of this whilst mum does some shopping, cafe hopping and market ventures. Oh how I love Melbourne!

I feel somewhat organised this morning. There is still a bit to do, but I am happy to say it is getting done. Yesterday you would not have thought so with the chaotic day I had with my two little people. Seriously I don't think anything went right. The packing never really got past Keely's clothes and some of those have now made their way out of the suitcase thanks to Taj. I think I will pack with Keely today while Taj has his sleep, zip up the case and hide it! I am maybe taking too much when it comes to my bag of tricks, but I want to make sure I have every chaotic base covered. The stroller is coming. The scooter, but only Keely's. (I know I am creating chaos right there with not taking Taj's scooter)! The ergo baby carrier, for moments where Keely has had enough, she can jump in the pram and Taj can hitch a ride on my back. There will be new colour-in books, a pencil case full of colours, and anything else I can squish in our case.

I will miss blogging, but I have to go away and just be. I need to be a mum to my little people, and surround myself in their laughter with only the distraction of cars and trams on the road. Of course there will be lots of awesome images and highlights to share next week. See you all in a week!

For the record, the images above were all taken yesterday while trying to pack. Taj fell in the case. I took a moment to leave him there while I captured how he felt about the whole idea of being packed amongst the clothes. He put Keely's skirt on himself and he thought he was awesome. He strutted around the house, and tried very hard to avoid the camera. Did he know at such a young age that these images will be resurfacing in about 16 years?

  4. Oh, have a lovely time. Melbs is the best. Bummer the weather isn't going to be amazing for you. On the weekend there was a thing in the paper on the best Melbourne cafes. They were pretty on the mark, you should see if you can pick yourself up a copy. Probably on the net as well. Have fun.

  10. yay! gotta love a getaway :) hilarious photos of taj. let me know if you would like to catch up for a 'coffee'... even if it is a soy decaf ;) you might get some funny looks when you order that from the extremely serious baristas in the city laneway cafes where coffee is religion! but don't worry, i always get dirty looks when i order a skinny mocha :)
