introducing li'l ludy

I have been on the hunt for swimmers for little girls and Li'l Ludy is the brand behind these divine swimmers. They are very 70s in their styling, so they fit little girls the way they should fit, and are made of quality fabric. I bought some for my daughter, Keely and we had fun doing a photo shoot to showcase this divine swimwear label. The best news is we are the exclusive stockist for Li'l Ludy. My son, Taj joined in for some photos of Polka boardies. It was an interesting shoot, one that was lots of fun and a little frustrating at the same time. Little ones want to play in the sand not model swimmers for their mum!

sunday brunch and a photo shoot

Where would a Sunday be without great friends, brunch and a photo shoot? We hosted a little kid friendly brunch today with Keely's great friend, Seb, as the two friends offered to do some modeling for Little Pinwheel. We made some yummy egg and bacon rolls along with some great coffees my girlfriend, Tan, picked up on her way to our house. The morning was full of fun and laughter as Keely and Seb modeled the Tiny Mammoth range and some Chalk n Cheese. There was not much styling on my part for this photo shoot as I was too busy talking! Although Tan and I did manage to get them changed each time they had finished photographing each outfit. Not only did my husband take the photos,he also cooked the brunch...nice morning for me!

sydney's red dust storm

This morning Sydney woke to the most amazing colour sky as the sun tried to pierce through the dust that blanketed over Sydney. I kicked my husband out the door to go and get some images down at our local beach, Dee Why and these are the beautiful and eerie images he captured.

Please note, these images are the property of Simon Whitbread, professional photographer, and are not to be used without his permission. If using to re-blog please give credit to back to Little Pinwheel.

an oozing chocolate cookie!

I love sharing recipes, especially when it comes to sweet recipes. This is of course not mine, this is from the lovely lady Donna Hay, right from one of her magazines. We baked these chocolate cookies today and took the photo not long after they came out of the oven...YUM! Nothing like baking your own cookies. We used dark chocolate and roughly chopped it to give yummy big chunks of chocolate. (they really do taste as good as they look)!

chocolate chip cookies

  • 125g butter, chopped
  • 1½ cups (225g) self-raising (self-rising) flour
  • ¾ cup (135g) brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cups (100g) milk chocolate chunks

Preheat oven to 180ºC (390ºF). Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Set aside to cool slightly. Place the flour and sugar in a bowl and mix to combine. Add the butter, egg and vanilla and mix to combine. Stir through the chocolate. Using your hands, mould 2 tablespoons of cookie mixture into a flat round and place on a baking tray lined with non-stick baking paper, leaving room to spread. Repeat with remaining mixture. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool on trays. Makes 18.

* To check if the cookies are done, look at the bottom not the top. If you wait until the top looks right you risk overcooking them. To check, lift a cookie with a spatula so you can see underneath. The bottom should be deep golden. Cool on trays as the cookies will continue to cook after you've removed them from the oven.

Enjoy!

their thing!

My two lovely children were eating their dinner on Saturday night and we took some photos of them doing their thing they both love to do. Keely's is to lick her bowl when she has had ice cream for dessert. (Daddy taught her this bad habit)! She loves to sit up at the bench on my big computer chair, her 'big girl high chair' to eat her dinner. Don't you just love the Heavenly Creatures outfit with the back light... she looks like an angel!

Taj has this thing where he loves to put his head down whenever we say "nigh nights." It is adorable, but maybe a little cruel to do it as he is eating his dinner and lying in vegetables! Cute though!

a boy birthday party

As the children get older we are invited to more and more parties. I find it very interesting what other mother's do for their children's birthdays. Today we had a 4 year olds birthday, a boy's party, for one of Keely's dear friends, Liam.

I am finding most parties now have some type of theme and todays was a super hero party. The birthday boy's mum, Emma, had it all organised; the party food was a mixture of treats and fruit, she had great games organised and a HUGE backyard to host the party in. There was also food for the parents, egg and bacon rolls, perfect for a 10am party!

The games played were the breaking of the pinata (how hard are they to break), egg and spoon race (love a good egg and spoon race) and the best one would have to be the bucket of water bombs that each child got to collect and throw at their dads who were all lined up in a row!

It was a party that was simple, not over the top and it would be up there with one of the best parties I have been to. We walked away with a very happy little girl, who was not high on sugar and who was tired from running around playing with her boyfriends.

a lomography summer!

My husband had a Lomography exhibition at the Blender Gallery in Sydney a couple of years ago with many other lovers of the lomo camera. He did a serious of images of Curl Curl beach, using different lomo cameras and interesting films. His shots are divine and tell such great stories, and a few were chosen to be printed in Frankie Magazine.

Perfect time to show such images as the weather becomes warmer and the afternoons at the beach become a reality again!

yippee...three little trees!

The Three Little Trees summer range arrived today and is fabulous....to me it is their best range yet! I am loving that free spirited feeling you get with this label and I think the images of Keely modeling the butterfly dress depicts such a feeling!

from baby to toddler

They grow up so fast and to capture that moment when your baby turns into a toddler is amazing. Not only does their development accomplishments change, but their whole appearance starts to change too. The baby features disappear and you soon see this little person in front of you. Taj has changed a lot in the last 3 weeks and these weeks have seen him change from a baby to a little toddler. He cruises around with his trolley and stands on his own without holding on. The excitement he feels is the same as I feel watching him and being right here with him as he goes through these new changes in his development. He is my second and the feelings you get the second time around are just as exciting. I love being a mum, I could not think of being anything else!

loving sudo!

The Sudo range arrived today and it is so cool for the boys and lovely for the girls. Keely was quick to try everything on and strut her stuff. She is becoming very comfortable in front of the camera and it is nice to see that she just strikes a pose without any prompting. Some of the moves she came up with were so cute and "model" like. Yet again she wants to have everything she tried on!

the lovely chalk n cheese

I have been dying to photograph this range on my daughter Keely and today we all had time to have some fun with the camera. Keely adores doing photos for Little Pinwheel, especially when it involves trying on dresses. Of course she asks for everyone of them to be hers! My lovely husband took the shots and I played stylist and wardrobe assistant, with a little bit of hair stylist... not that it is styled, it is what we call a 'messy bun.' It was a lot of fun and really the images speak for themselves, Chalk n Cheese is divine!
