the everyday forest gump

Early this morning I had no idea what I was going to blog about, until I went for early morning run and swim. I thought about what I did for me time as a mum and wondered what other mothers do to have this time.

For me personally I need to have something that involves not having a child hanging off me for at least half an hour a day. This also gives me the energy to get through the day, although I am sitting here typing this post thinking how tired I am and wondering how I will get through the day! It has started nicely, with my run, swim and coffee while watching the surfers. I have also been down the beach with the little ones for our morning play and now Taj is having his sleep.

I would love to know what you do for yourselves, if it be a run, a swim, reading a magazine, a book, having a coffee or going for a walk.

I have been doing a lot of people watching this week and I cannot wait to share it with you tomorrow!

  1. If I can get my husband to watch the little one on a Saturday I will go to the local bookstore, grab a coffee, and read through endless magazines! Heaven.

  2. I walk. I play netball. See even the time I get alone (kinda alone -if you dont count dogs and 6 other players at netball) Im multi tasking.

  3. I would love to swim. I find it the best feeling in the world.

Currently, I have no time without a kid on me. I try to do late night sewing, but being pregnant, it doesnt last long. ha ha

Hopefully my husband and I can find some time for me soon.

  4. I go to the gym three times a week. I swim in a masters club each Wednesday (it's an intense 60 minute workout, we swim 1.5 km!!) then on Tuesdays and Sundays I do a thirty minute aqua-robics class. The hour or two that I am out on my own does wonders for my psyche. I adore cycling along to the gym with my iPod on. I have my own friends who know ME without defining me by my everyday role as mum to my two kids.
    I highly recommend it!

  5. I do running ( try to do it 2/3 times per week) and I love to blog and sew at the end of the day while the kids are in bed ;)

  7. Running used to totally be it for me, but I have gotten way out of the habit... this post is a good reminder of how good it is for me! The BYW class has met some of that need for me, but half the time I'm squeezing it in with the little people around my feet! Thanks so much for this post, Hayley.

this post is great, i don't really think i do enough non-mum stuff for myself. any free time i have i work, so i guess that explains the monthly mental breakdown haha actually i go to a handwork/crochet class once a week which is fun, and so nice to have adult conversation. a daily swim sounds like heaven!
