how green is your thumb

I would like to call myself a green thumb. I was that child that pottered around the garden with my mum, had over 20 bonsais*, three big vege patches, and a whole lot of different plants in pots. We were a family that loved to hang in the garden on the weekend; mowing the lawn, weeding, or just sitting down to a table of yummy food to make open sandwiches with. I miss that. I miss her.

Today was the last day I will ever spend at my old home. It was time to clean it, take anything that was left behind, and pull out my mum's plants, which I planted in the planter box at the end of the balcony. I bought these plants with my mum when she first moved to Sydney to be with me. I remember the whole day clearly. Our day at the markets, buying four plants to put on her balcony, and both carrying them back to her apartment. We shared lunch, (we always shared lunch, so we could share a treat, and not feel guilty). Those plants were heavy.

It is interesting how four plants can become worth more than just four plants.

Keely replanted them with me. And together we made our little garden in our new home.

*my mum looked after all of my bonsais when I went on a holiday. This was back when I was in my twenties. Mum managed to kill all of them! That is over 20 plants.

the first haircut?

I am thinking about getting Taj's hair cut; the first cut.

It is wild, and a little out of control. He has regular fringe cuts, and hates, (and I mean hate in terms of the opposite of love), having his hair brushed. Taj has hair like mine, where it kind of clumps together, and turns into little dreadlocks.

Taj's personality suits wild, but it is time to tame the beast. I thought to keep it long, and clean it up, but we would have to be careful to not rock a mullet. Although, Taj could probably pull that off. I do not think he is the short back and sides boy.

Help! Do we take the gamble and hope for a cool mullet, {if there is such thing as a cool mullet. I am having childhood nightmares}, or do you know of any other rockin' styles for the mini 'rock on' boy?

I personally love long hair on little boys, especially this beach bum Taj.

home sweet home

I cannot even begin to tell you how awesome I feel right now. It has been a full on two days, and to tell you everything would be a marathon in itself. I believe that yesterday was the first day of my life. Random as I was lifting boxes, moving furniture, and running around trying to get my mobile broadband sorted, {do not ask}, and a whole new warehouse space for the Little Pinwheel business. I can breathe now. This time next week I will be dancing in my new home. {Great floor to dance on; wooden floorboards}.

My little people moved in today. Their craft space was found. They are now sleeping in their new room.

Welcome to our new home.

catch me if you can!

I am running away. I have decided it is time to give myself a break from blogging. After today I am stuffed. Packing up a home is overrated. I don't even think it was ever rated, and I do not believe I could ever understand anyone who enjoys it. Actually in saying that, I do enjoy the part where you get rid of the things you truly do not need.

Today Keely and I had a day mostly at home. She has been amazing, and a huge help. Everything is in boxes, except the essentials, and the final bits and pieces that will go in the box labeled, "shit box." I think I too will curl up and hop in that box.

I had coffee, and a sweetie treat of awesome chocolate buttons on the side. I clearly looked like I needed a bit more than a coffee.

Tomorrow is all about Little Pinwheel work. The little people are off for a day with their daddy. Then Thursday is the day the big truck comes with 3 men.

I look forward to sharing my new home to you all. {An awesome fresh start, and a new life for me, and my little people}!

I have glass slippers

I hit the shops to find those glass slippers; my first pair of high heels. I took along my fashionista for some advice and help.

We walked the streets in our salts.

Keely modeled.

We went to two shopping malls; I survived......just.

Glass slippers were tried on.

Keely chose her favourites.

I thought there was no place like home.

And I went home with a classic pair of heels. I can see myself as a little girl stealing shoes from my mum's wardrobe to play dress-ups in, and these would of been them.

They are very me; converse with a heel, sexy but not over the top, and comfortable. And yes I can walk in them!

Keely found the makeup counter.

And I found her doing this.

A beautiful day with my girl.

boxes of imagination

Today was about packing. Everything in boxes. That is the way to move, even if you have one box at the end that you throw things in. I am paying by the hour on thursday, so need to make sure those three men are not hanging around for too long expecting beers and pizza.

I am that organised, and such a professional I packed the kitchen tongs. Not good when I clearly still need to be cooking for the week. I improvised and used a fork to cook our dinner. I of course have my priorities right as I left out one wine glass to pour a well earned glass of red when the little people go to bed.

There are positives out of moving. The first would have to be the whole binning* the stuff you do not need, and probably never needed in the first place. The second would be the excitement and joy the little people show you.

Each stack of boxes have become a new cubby house, and this afternoon they realised they can put their mattresses together to create one big bed. Apparently as my bed is now packed up, and I too am on my mattress, we are all camping tonight. What a shame I did not buy marshmallows to toast over the fire, (gas stove top).

Tomorrow Keely and I are off to Surry Hills, and hopefully if time permits we will head over to Newtown for some lunch. School holidays are fun! Packing not so fun.

Enjoy your week!

*any items that were still in good condition were passed onto people who needed them.

** I am on instagram.. I am sucked into another, easy application for my iphone. Sure beats lugging the big camera around.

rock the school holidays!

It is school holidays! I say those words with a whole lot of joy. No more packing school lunches, and running to a schedule for drop offs and pick ups. It is all about holiday fun. And we have survived the first half of the school year!

These holidays Keely is staying at home with me. We are going to just be. Mother and daughter having time together.

Play with friends.

Have giggles.

Be silly.

And we will be moving to a whole new home.

What are you doing with your little people?

Happy holidays!
